Episodes of intense vertigo, hearing that comes and goes, ringing, and a feeling of fullness in one ear? That cluster points to Ménière’s disease, a manageable inner-ear condition. Get same-day, ENT-focused care to evaluate and treat it, in person or by video.
Ménière’s disease is an inner-ear disorder that causes episodes of vertigo along with hearing and ear symptoms, usually in one ear. It’s linked to a buildup of fluid in the inner ear, which disrupts both balance and hearing. The condition has a recognizable pattern: attacks of spinning vertigo that can last from 20 minutes to several hours, hearing loss that fluctuates (often worse during attacks), ringing or roaring (tinnitus), and a sense of pressure or fullness in the affected ear. Between attacks, symptoms may ease, though hearing loss can become more lasting over time. The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but the condition can usually be managed well with the right plan.
Same-day appointments available. Most insurance accepted.
Ménière’s disease is diagnosed mainly from the pattern of symptoms and a hearing test, after ruling out other causes of vertigo and hearing changes. While there’s no cure, the condition is very manageable, and most people gain good control of their attacks with the right combination of approaches.
During your visit, your ENT provider may review the timing and pattern of your symptoms, arrange a hearing test, examine your ears and balance, and build a plan aimed at reducing how often and how severely attacks occur.
Virtual ENT care works well for reviewing your symptom pattern, talking through triggers and diet, and adjusting an existing management plan.
An in-person visit is needed to run a hearing test, examine the ears and balance, and confirm the diagnosis, since Ménière's is identified partly through hearing measurements.
