No Surprises Act

Effective Date: January 1, 2022

At ENT Urgent Care (EUC), we believe in transparency and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care. The No Surprises Act is a federal law that protects patients from unexpected medical bills, and we fully support these protections.

What Is the No Surprises Act?

The No Surprises Act protects you from receiving unexpected medical bills when you:

  • Get emergency care from an out-of-network provider or facility.
  • Receive care at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgery center but unknowingly receive services from an out-of-network provider.
  • Are uninsured or choose not to use insurance and request a Good Faith Estimate before receiving care.

This law helps ensure that you are not charged more than in-network rates in many emergency and non-emergency situations, even if your care is provided by an out-of-network provider.

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the expected cost of your medical services before you receive care.

Under the law:

  • You can request an estimate at least 3 business days before your appointment.
  • The estimate includes the expected cost of services, including tests, procedures, and follow-up visits.
  • If your final bill is more than $400 higher than the estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges.
